Search FAQ
How can I EXCLUDE contacts with specific email addresses or email domains from my search results?
You can exclude contacts from your results by uploading an email exclusion list. Towards the bottom of the Search page, under the Options section, you'll see "Exclude the following email addresses". You can upload a one-column CSV file containing individual emails of the contacts or email domains that you do NOT want included in the search results. Your file should have one email or domain listed per line. If you save your search, your exclusion list will also get saved as part of it.
Can I find contacts for an existing list of Companies?
Yes, you can if you have a list of Company URLs. On the Search page, scroll down to the Company section. Click on the link that says Search By: Company URL. You can enter up to 10 URLs in the text box on the left-hand side, or on the right-hand side, you can upload a file of up to 5,000 URLs. The file should be a one-column CSV file with one company URL on each line. You can enter URLs as "www.microsoft.com" or "microsoft.com".
Can I search on multiple zip codes or postal codes at once?
Yes, you can either enter in multiple zip/postal codes or use a starting and ending zip/postal code. Under Location you’ll want to go to the Postal/Area Code tab. If you have just a few zip codes you can enter them in using a comma in between them, such as 02451, 02452, 02453. If you have many zip codes you can enter in a range using a hyphen between the start and end points, such as 02451-02472. This will find contacts in any zip code in that range. You can also combine these two options, such as entering in 02135, 90210, 02451-02472.
How do I limit my search results to contacts with email addresses and/or phone numbers?
On the Search Page, under the Options section, check the Require email address and/or the Require phone checkbox. This will ensure all results contain an email and/or phone number.
What are the Metro Regions listed under the Locations section?
By selecting a Metro Region, you get contacts within that city and the surrounding communities. If you are looking only for contacts within the city limits, we recommend you use the City/State criteria rather than Metro Regions.
I've been looking for contacts within a certain company and you don't have any. Why not?
All of our contacts are traded in from users like you. Some companies aren't represented yet, but new records are added daily. Odds are we will have the company you want very soon. If you have contacts for some companies not yet represented, we encourage you to trade them in.
What does checking the box next to Company uses Salesforce.com CRM do?
This is a premium add-on to a NetProspex subscription seat. Once your account has access to this new layer of targeting criteria, checking the box will refine your search results to only contacts within companies using the Salesforce CRM platform. You may further refine your contact search with additional criteria (job title, function, industry, etc.) while this box is checked.
For more information about unlocking this feature, contact your NetProspex team representative.
Can I search by SIC code?
Yes you can. SIC Codes (or Standard Industrial Classification codes) are a way of classifying an organization based on the industry it operates in. You can search on one SIC Code or multiple SIC Codes at one time. To do so, you will want to go to the Industry section on the Find Contacts page, and select the SIC Code tab. You can select as many SIC Codes as you want by checking the box next to them. You can also just expand the selection by hitting the arrows next to each SIC Code.
You can also upload a CSV file of SIC Codes beneath the SIC Code tab where the screen says Select from the list above or upload a CSV file of SIC Codes. This file has to be in CSV format, and just contain SIC Codes and not any other data.
How can I add records to my shopping cart from my search results?
You can contacts to your cart in three ways:
- Click the check box or anywhere on the contact row. This will add the contact to your cart. If a contact that you have selected already exists in your shopping cart, the system will not allow you to add it a second time.
- Use the Add All feature. This will add all records contained in your search results to your cart.
- Use the Add Top feature. Enter a number of contacts, and that number of contacts will be added to your cart. These are determined by our estimated accuracy score. For example, selecting the "Top 1000" will yield the 1000 most accurate records. The system will automatically exclude contacts you have downloaded before.
Please keep in mind that using Add All will add all contacts to your cart, regardless if those contacts are in your folders or not. Using Add Top will only look for contacts that you don't yet have in your folders.
How can I search for multiple job titles at once?
In the Job Title search field (in the Job Function/Level/Title section), you can use the term "or" between your search criteria. For example, you can enter the search term developer or engineer or network to find contacts that contain any of those terms within their title. You can also select the Include Similar Titles check box if you so choose.
Can I do wildcard searches for criteria like Job Title?
All searches are wildcard searches by default and you should not enter *'s or other special characters. For example, if you enter the term "media" into the Job Title field under the Job Function / Title Keyword section, you will get results that include: "Media Relations Manager", "Manager, Digital Media", and "Vice President Group Media Director".
